The Dark Knight Rises was released into theaters on Friday and has now earned a whopping amount of $160 million for its weekend release. This has beaten the record for 2-D movies.
The movie has earned more than its predecessor "The Dark Knight" which earned $158.4 million in 2008. This has now made "The Dark Knight Rises" the third highest domestic weekend opening. The first highest domestic movie was "The Avengers" which earned $207.4 million and the second was "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - part 2" which earned $169.2 million.
The Dark Knight Rises has done rather well regarding that the first two movies were released in 3-D.
Regarding the tragic accident which occurred during the midnight showing for "The Dark Knight Rises" in Auroro, Colo, the movie has done very well and people haven't been scared or worried about going to the cinema (we all send our condolences to the victims and families who were involved in the horrific accident).
