While talking to The Huffington Post, Avatar director James Cameron reveals that he almost directed Michael Crichton's 1990 novel, 'Jurassic Park'. Spielberg turned this movie into an instant classic grossing $914,691,188, along with the sequel, The Lost World.
Cameron revealed that Spielberg had beaten him by 'Just a few hours', when trying to get the film rights.
He also reveals that he would have rather gone with a more 'nastier' approach when making the film, "But when I saw the film, I realised that I was not the right person to make the film, he [Spielberg] was. Because he made a dinosaur movie for kids, and mine would have been Aliens with dinosaurs, and that wouldn't have been fair.
"Dinosaurs are for 8-year-olds. We can all enjoy it, too, but kids get dinosaurs and they should not have been excluded for that. His sensibility was right for that film. I'd have gone further, nastier, much nastier."
I would have actually liked to see Cameron's take on the tale.
What do you think? Would James Cameron's take on the story be as good as Spielberg's classic?
