Total Recall 2012 review

To be honest, I have never been a huge fan of Total Recall. I would watch it and still enjoy it, but it wasn't among my list of favorite films.
I enjoyed the bloody violence and the bad jokes, but most of all I enjoyed the story.
I went to the cinema yesterday to see the rebooted version thinking that the script/story-line would be as good as the original, but boy was I wrong. They had changed important elements of the story, which I didn't find to be a very good move.

The movie is loosely based on the 1966 novel 'We can remember it for you wholesale' written by Phillip K. Dick.
The thing that really made the Total Recall of the 90's a film to remember, was the confusion. We never knew whether this was all in Douglas Quaid's head or if it was reality. The difference in the reboot is that as soon as everything goes wrong for Quaid, we immediately know that it is reality.
Many of the characters try to convince Quaid that it is all his imagination, but the audience is not convinced at all.

Colin Farrell as Douglas Quaid, is just okay in this movie. There were strong performances and also some weak performances. I wouldn't have specifically chosen him for the role, but his acting was just exceptional.
I wasn't a big fan of Kate Beckinsale's (Lori) performance in the movie. Her acting was almost over the top. Every time she came to the screen I was hoping that it would be better than her last scenes. Like Farrell's performance, some were strong and some not so.
To be honest, I rather liked Jessica Biel's performance as Melina. I found her piece to be one of the best in the movie. Despite her previous positive comments, she too suffered from the strong performance and the rather not so good performances.

I found the movie to be fun, but it was mainly about how much Special effects they could use.
One of the only things I liked about the movie were the easter eggs which were put in the movie. For example: When Quaid is going through an airport (whatever you call it), we see a woman who looks vaguely like the disguise which Douglas uses in the 90's version, but instead we find him to be in more of a manly disguise.

Overall, I will give this 5.5 out of 10.

State what you thought of it in the comments...

Will Batman be introduced in a Justice League movie

It has been rumored that Batman may be introduced/rebooted in the possibly upcoming live-action movie: The Justice League of America.

Rumor has it that The Batman reboot will come after the JL movie and this will make Batman part of the 'DC cinematic universe'.
I believe that DC will be taking the Marvel approach, where Marvel did solo films to lead up to the big team-up, but I believe that DC may just do this backwards.

Next Summers DC comics based movie will be The Man of Steel (Directed by Zack Synder and produced by Christopher Nolan) and will be the last DC based movie till 2015, which may be the release of the Justice League movie.

No commentary from Joss Whedon for the UK in The Avengers DVD release

For the UK Marvel fans out there, I have rather unfortunate news for you. The UK (maybe the whole of Europe) may not be getting any commentary from Joss Whedon in the Avengers DVD and Blu-ray bonus features.

Empire magazine tweeted about the news earlier:

"Disney have told us that Joss Whedon recorded his commentary too late for the UK Avengers DVD/Blu-ray. They chose not to delay release..."

"Currently there are no plans for a future Avengers DVD/Blu-ray that will include Whedon's commentary. It's Shawarmageddon all over again!"

As a fan, I wouldn't have minded a short delay and I am very upset about the news; it's as if we didn't contribute to the $80 million worldwide box office total!

SHIELD TV show is ready to go

Earlier this month we received news about a Marvel Cinematic based TV show being produced by The Avengers writer/director: Joss Whedon; and it has now been confirmed that the show will be in fact based upon the secret military enforcement organisation: SHIELD.

It has not been confirmed whether the show will be based before, during or after the events of The Avengers, but I wouldn't get my hopes up about big time super heroes making any appearances.
I also doubt that it would be that big of a budget, but I would think that it would just be a little like X-Files, just with spies and agents.

With Joss Whedon's experience with TV shows, I almost guarantee it will have that little Whedon-ness to it, which will give it that extra flare.

Alongside Joss Whedon, will also be Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancheroen. Jeph Loeb who is also used to how Marvel works things may also be on this project.

What do you think about the show and who do you want to see?
Agent Coulson perhaps? Carol Danvers?

Neil Armstrong: A legend dies

It is with great regret that I must report the tragic death of the well known hero: Neil Armstrong.

Neil Armstrong first "took one small step for man" on the 20th July 1969 and in doing so took "one giant leap for man kind". This event changed Human history and caused the many dreams of boys and girls alike to venture to infinity in space.

This event also caused most of the modern age technology we have today and if it were not for Mr. Armstrong, most dreams and hopes would not be as powerful as they are today.

Many of us will mourn his death, but remember: "do not mourn for the dead, mourn for the living"; we must carry on with what he started and remember his famous saying:

"One small step for man, one giant leap for man kind"

RIP
Neil Armstrong

Is there a new Justice League of America team-up on the horizon?

A new Justice League of America comic is on the horizon (the title basically says it all), and it seems like it will be heading for a 2013 release.
Geoff Johns will be writing the comics, while the pencils will be done by David Finch.

The team-up will include Martial Manhunter, Stargirl, Green Arrow, Catwoman, Baz and Zatana.
Most of the characters included in the upcoming team-up doesn't really surprise me, but Catwoman is a rather strange choice to me... due to her previous record.

The image for the upcoming Hammers of Justice (multiple hammers) team-up is down below...

MARVEL NOW's Marvel Babies...?!

Following the successful release of the Avengers Vs X-men #1 variant cover , involving the two teams seeming to be babies, it has now led onto its own spin-off of variant covers for different Marvel titles,(and I won't lie to you, these are pretty cute).
